Meet Thomas O. Mensah, the Ghanaian – American World Renowned Inventor of Fiber Optics Technology.
Born in Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana, Dr. Mensah completed his undergraduate study in Chemical Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, after which he continued to do his graduate studies in Chemical Engineering at Montpellier University France between 1970 and 1974 through the French Government Fellowship. He is an old boy of Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Ghana.
He is a famous chemical engineer and inventor with 7 pioneering patents awarded in a period of six years. He owns 12 patents critical to the spread of Fiber optics networks across USA since 1985 while expanding the global reach of the Internet Technology Platform.
In a recent interview Dr Mensah said: “Social media is now a big thing. In the 1980s, I was one of the four inventors of fiber optics, and this allowed the internet to explode because now you have fiber optics in the sea cables connecting Africa, China, Japan, everywhere. So you can call Japan, you can send Facebook pictures to Japan, to China, and all over the world because of that technology.”
In 2014, Dr. Mensah was invited as Keynote Speaker at Microsoft Corporation Headquarters, Redmond WA. He has also won Major United States Air Force Contracts for Nanotechnology based weapons Development. (US Department of Defense). He is a fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors (NAI)..
After many years of innovations and impact to make the world a better place, Dr. Mensah’s interests have grown to include Multi-Billion Dollar Infrastructure Capitalization and Development in emerging countries for electric power generation, surface and air transportation projects, ports expansion and security including border security solutions and many more.
Dr Mensah is a best selling author of 4 books. Released in 2016, his fourth Book is Frontiers of Nanotechnology, Manufacturing Processes and Products.
Dr. Thomas Mensah is the President , CEO and Chairman at Georgia Aerospace Systems and Silicon Valley of the South Inc. Member of the Internet Society, ISOC.
